Higueras breveras, brevales o bacoreras
Son las más apreciadas y las únicas cuyo cultivo se va extendiendo.
En estos árboles, algunos higos cada año no llegan a madurar en otoño y se conservan durante el invierno para hacerlo en el verano siguiente.
Las brevas tienen un alto valor comercial por su tamaño, superior al de los higos, su aspecto atractivo y por las fechas en que maduran, con fácil comercialización en fresco.
Estos frutos se forman sobre madera vieja, del año anterior, en donde pasan el invierno como pequeños botones, situándose dos, tres o cuatro por ramo, pudiendo llegar hasta siete.
Estas higueras dan una segunda cosecha, la de higos, a partir de agosto. Estos frutos se forman sobre la brotación del mismo año. Los higos son del mismo color que las brevas pero de tamaño más pequeño. De sabor más dulce pero con menor aroma. En el comercio en fresco tiene menor valor que las brevas.
Las variedades cultivadas en el sureste de España por orden de importancia son Colar, Goina y Ñoral.
