El Banco Central de Chile informó este miércoles que, de acuerdo a la información preliminar de que dispone, el Indicador Mensual de Actividad Económica (Imacec) de enero 2014 aumentó 1,4% en comparación con igual mes del año anterior.

La serie desestacionalizada disminuyó 0,6% respecto del mes precedente y creció 1,4% en doce meses. El mes registró la misma cantidad de días hábiles que enero de 2013.

En el resultado incidió principalmente el incremento de servicios empresariales y personales, compensado, en parte, por la caída de minería, industria manufacturera y del comercio mayorista.

Conforme al calendario de difusión de las cifras de Cuentas Nacionales, la estimación del producto interno bruto 2013, y las revisiones de los años 2011 y 2012, serán difundidas el próximo 18 de marzo. Las series de Imacec se revisarán en coherencia con las nuevas cifras.

El Imacec es una estimación que resume la actividad de los distintos sectores económicos en un determinado mes, a precios del año anterior encadenados, de acuerdo a la nueva metodología en base a la compilación de referencia 2008. Su variación interanual constituye una aproximación de la evolución mensual del producto interno bruto (PIB).

El cálculo del Imacec descansa en múltiples indicadores de oferta, así como en estimaciones cuando se carece de información mensual directa.

El Banco Central de Chile elabora y publica el Imacec desde el año 1986. En la actualidad el indicador se difunde el día 05 de cada mes, con un desfase de 35 días.
